Birth Registration
Instructions
Please review the guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth appointment process.
Children born in the Republic of Korea to Sri Lankan parents (at least 1 party must be Sri Lankan) can have their births registered at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul.
Supporting Documents
- Korean Birth Certificate with English translation (If born in Korea)
- Parents’ original Birth Certificates (English translations are not accepted)
- Parents’ original Marriage Certificate (English translation is not accepted)
- Parents’ original Passports
- Declaration by father (If the father is not a Sri Lankan Citizen,the declaration must be produced by the mother)
- Korean Visa card (Alien Registration card)
If the parent producing the declaration has no valid visa at the time of the child's birth, they should submit an Affidavit in this regard.
Note: Any birth that remains unregistered after the lapse of one year from the date of birth may only be registered with the approval of the Registrar General of Births, Marriages and Deaths.
